Two Butterflies

Some early morning shots of Santa Maria de Astorga.

(Audrey Hepburn on a fire escape with a weird head-wrap)

Carrot cake from a cafe in (I believe) Santa Colomba de Somoza.

A basking cat on the way out of town.

A church in Rabanal del Camino.

I was going to stay in Rabanal, but I showed up a little before noon, and the hostel around the corner from this church didn’t open until 2. I decided to simply continue to the next village.

This is Fancebadon, where I ended up. The building on the left is the albergue in which I stayed.

Dramatic vista from Foncebadon.

Early morning shot of the Cruce de Ferro, reportedly the highest point of the Camino Frances.

An ethereal-looking mobile cafe setup.

Today was a big day for walking down hill. After this point I descended about 900m before my day’s destination. It was awful. Luckily I was distracted by charming animals.

Molinaseca, where I ended up is very scenic. They have also dammed their river in such a way as to create shallow and deep pools. Sensible, once you think of it.

I saw this tough customer while enjoying some coffee.

I just pretended I hadn’t noticed these wiseguys at all.
